Kelly Ella Maz Hotel Review One King West

Hotel Review: One King West

One King West is a truly unique hotel in Toronto, with stunning guest suites and an exciting history. The building used to be home to TD Bank, and the hotel is a perfect mix of modern and old. As soon as you enter the lobby you’ll notice the stunning architecture and attention to detail. This theme continues throughout the hotel, especially in the ballrooms and the one-of-a-kind vault in the basement!

We stayed in a Premium Tower Suite on the 44th floor. When we entered the room, there was a coat rack and entrance to a bathroom. As you continued down the hall you entered into the bedroom area, which had a comfortable king sized bed, TV and closet. The full wall of windows let in tons of natural light during the day, and offered beautiful sunset views in the evening.

Continuing down the hall even further, the Tower Premium Suite opens into a stunning living room space with three floor-to-ceiling walls of windows. This unique room layout gives a panoramic view of the city and Lake Ontario, which is a truly unique and exquisite feature. This living room also came with a wet bar that was perfect for mixing up cocktails before we went out for the night. In fact, sipping on cocktails while the watching the sunset from the comfort of our living room was easily the highlight of our stay!

Located in the lobby of the hotel is a popular bar and small restaurant. During our stay we sampled a number of food items, but the rueben sandwich and sweet potato fries were my favourites! The breakfast buffet was a wonderful start to our day, and included a wine range of hot and cold items. From oatmeal to eggs – there was hardly anything missing from this buffet!

The hotel is located on the corner of Yonge Street and King Steet, which is walking distance to an endless number of restaurants and bars. Just steps away from their King Street entrance is a streetcar stop and entrance to the subway. Being so close to public transportation is a huge advantage in Toronto, where harsh winter weather can make walking around the city unenjoyable. The hotel has wonderful amenities as well, including a small indoor pool and a rooftop gym with spectacular city views. During your visit to One King West, be sure to explore the lower level (below the lobby). The grand staircase takes you down to a fully-functioning bank vault that’s now used for special events.
