Barcelona is a colourful and lively city – anywhere you look you’ll find a great photo opportunity! When Paul and I lived in Barcelona we never got tired of walking around the city with our camera in-hand, searching for new places to shoot. If you want to snap the perfect pictures during your stay in Barcelona, then bookmark this page and visit each of my top 5 spots for photos in Barcelona.
Barcelona’s main beach is one of the city’s most popular spots – and it also makes for a great place for photos! You’ll want to be on the beach very early in the morning in order to avoid the crowds – around 7am is perfect. Angle your shot so you can get the iconic W Hotel in the background too.
Sagrada Familia has a very dark, gothic look from the outside – but inside, the stain glass windows make the entire cathedral glow a rainbow of different colours. Mid-afternoon is the best time of day for pictures here, because the sun is at it’s brightest – which further enhances the colours.
Bunkers del Carmel
Bunkers del Carmel isn’t easy to find – but this local favourite is an awesome spot for pictures of the city. In the evening, this area is filled with locals drinking wine and hanging out with friends. I recommend coming during the day or at least an hour and half before sunset. Since it’s not the easiest place to find you’re going to want to get here before it gets dark out.
Another photo location high up on the mountain! Parc Guell is the perfect place to get a shot of the city, and the mosaic bench adds a gorgeous pop of colour to your picture. Parc Guell now requires you to pre-purchase your ticket online and select your time slot. This is a fantastic improvement because it actually limits how many people are at the park at any given time…. which means there’s less crowds to battle in order to get the perfect shot!
Grand Hotel Central
Last, but not least, Grand Hotel Central has a rooftop bar with an infinity pool overlooking El Born. The pool is reserved for hotel guests only, but the bar is open to the public. Order a glass of cava and having fun taking shots with the city in the background.
