As you may have seen on Instagram, Prague was a very special city for Paul and I! A city this special needs a hotel just as spectacular, which is exactly what we found at Hotel Golden Key. This boutique hotel is located in Mala Strana, just a few steps away from Prague Castle. We were first impressed by the convenient location, but once we entered we were blown away by the beautiful design and welcoming staff.
The lobby is beautifully designed with greenery and pops of colour. There are plenty of areas to lounge and the friendly staff greeted us as soon as we walked in. The glass roof over the lobby allows for tons of natural light to pour in, and it also gives you a closer look at the stunning architecture above.
We spent two night in an Executive Suite. This spacious room had a separate bedroom and living room, as well as a large closet and two bathrooms. Prague is an old city, with typically small buildings and hotel rooms – so we were quite impressed by the amount of space we had in our room. The bathrooms also came with L’Occitane toiletries – a true sign of a luxury hotel!!
Breakfast was included in our stay, and was served in a breakfast room just off the lobby. They had an excellent selection that included eggs, sausage, bacon and beans for warm foods. There was also an abundance of fresh breads, cereals, fruits and yogurts. This was a much wider breakfast selection than you’d typically see at a small hotel in Europe, and there was something here to please even the pickiest of eaters! In addition to the breakfast room, Hotel Golden Key is also home to a charming little cafe called Designum Cafe. This is a perfect place to stop for lunch or an afternoon tea. Their strudel is very delicious and I recommend you try it before you leave!
I didn’t expect a hotel of this size to have so many amenities, but Hotel Golden Key was filled with wonderful surprises! Tucked behind the building is their Summer Courtyard Garden where you could relax and get away from the busy city streets. This beautiful area is perfect for reading! They also have a sizeable gym and sauna area. The sauna can be reserved in advance so that you can have the area all to yourself. It comes with a sauna, shower and two lounge chairs so you can relax after your time in the sauna – rather than immediately returning to your room. We visited the sauna one evening and found it to be very relaxing and spa-like! After a busy day of sightseeing this was a wonderful retreat.
As I mentioned before, the location of Hotel Golden Key is absolutely perfect. In order to give you an even closer look at the area, we filmed some drone footage of Prague from Charles Bridge. This was filmed at 6am, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel – so this will give you a really good idea of what the area around the hotel looks like! Enjoy:
