Hotel Review: Hotel Penaga

George Town, Penang is unlike anywhere else in Malaysia. The art, the culture and the food is what makes this destination so special and there’s only one boutique hotel that perfectly compliments this atmosphere – Hotel Penaga!

The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance of all the best restaurants, the famous street art and plenty of attractions. No matter how you plan to spend your time in Penang you’ll love the convenience of Hotel Penaga.

We stayed in a Hutton Room on the second floor, and it was so comfortable and felt very homey. Our luxurious room was filled with antique furniture like a gorgeous four poster bed and wardrobe. The wardrobe and bench provided plenty of space to store our clothes and the queen sized bed was very comfortable.

I also really loved how the hotel complimented the antique furniture by using the inside of the TV unit to house the coffee, glasses, etc. It kept the room much cleaner and was very keeping with the luxurious, heritage theme. Our room also had a beautiful desk area which is always important to me!

The bathroom in our room was incredible. The stained glassed window above the jacuzzi and the stained glass panels in the door projected a soft, colourful glow across the bathroom with made the entire room feel like an oasis.

The custom bathroom amenities were very high quality, and the green tea scent smelt so good. Every shower I took at Hotel Penaga felt like a mini spa retreat thanks to the luxurious products and the high end shower!

Our Hutton Room came with a balcony overlooking the gardens. Rooms with balconies either come with garden or city views, and I’d highly recommend booking a garden view room if possible because the views were stunning – especially in the morning.

Our balcony had a small table and two chairs which was perfect for eating a quick bite in the morning before heading out to explore the island. Likewise, our balcony was perfect for a glass of wine before heading out to dinner at night.

When Paul and I weren’t sightseeing around George Town we were cooling off in the pool at Hotel Penaga with our friends. The cool glass side made this a fun pool to photograph and the cool water was the most refreshing relief from the Malaysian sun!

Hotel Penaga also has a beautiful library filled with books (the perfect place to relax!) and a stunning garden around the grounds. The island can get a bit busy, so the tranquil hideaways at Hotel Penaga were perfect for travellers who prefer to spend their vacation time relaxing.
