Hotel Review: Parc Sovereign Hotel Tyrwhitt

After two months of travelling through Bali I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to arrive at a downtown hotel in a major city and walk into a sleek, modern hotel lobby! The Parc Sovereign Hotel Tyrwhitt is the best Singapore hotel for a staycation in Singapore, and we made it our homebase for our three nights exploring the city.

Our checkin process was quick and easy and we sat in the lobby while they processed our arrival for us. Sally from the front desk was especially helpful and took the time to review a map of Singapore with us and tell us all her favourite spots. It’s rare in a city hotel to get such personal service, and I think that’s really what sets Parc Sovereign Hotel Tyrwhitt apart from other properties in Singapore.

Our room was pretty compact (we are in Singapore after all) but it still had everything we needed. I was actually very impressed by the well thought out design of our hotel room, because they managed to maximize every inch of space in the hotel room. It ended up being more than enough space for two travellers thanks to the smart design.

The bed was comfortable, the furniture was sleek and modern and everything from the TV to the curtains were high quality. The bathroom sink and mirror is located inside the room, with only the shower and toilet being closed off from the bedroom. The intelligent use of space allows you to stay in a beautiful, modern hotel room at a very affordable rate!

Once part of the hotel room that wasn’t lacking in space was the garden balcony off our room. How rare it is to get an outdoor space like this in a city hotel!

There were three different chairs on each balcony, each with colourful cushions. The floors are covered in a faux grass and there are small hedges dividing each balcony. The combinations of the colourful cushions and the greenery (both real and fake) were a welcoming sight in a city hotel!

The rooftop of the Parc Sovereign Hotel Tyrwhitt is easily the most popular spot at this property – and the real reason that locals are flocking to the hotel to use it as a staycation in Singapore! A beautiful infinity pool overlooks city views and sun loungers give travellers lots of space to relax in the sun. There’s also a kiddie pool and a terrace.

Unfortunately the haze was quick thick in Singapore during our stay, but we still found time to go up to the roof and enjoy the view. There are various places to sit and relax upstairs and even with the hotel being busy we always found ample room to stretch out.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. You’re walking distance to Little India, multiple train stations and the City Square Mall. The street felt very quiet and we didn’t have any noise at night, yet we were still in close proximity to all of Singapore’s best sights.
