It doesn’t get much closer to paradise than Grand Sunset Gili Air! This small oceanfront resort located on Gili Air in Lombok is the perfect home base for exploring the islands, diving or just relaxing.
As the name suggests this resort also has beautiful sunsets, so this is also the perfect place for photography fanatics like myself! There isn’t a ton to do on Gili Air (it’s part of it’s charm!) so having beautiful hotel where you’ll enjoy spending your time is crucial – and that’s exactly why I love Grand Sunset Gili Air so much.
The rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable, with a queen sized bed and plenty of storage space. The A/C also works great which is so important at the Gili Islands where it gets so incredibly hot outside. Our room also came with a flat screen TV so we could watch HBO when we needed to relax at night!
The outdoor bathroom was beautiful and had a really great rain shower and a sink made of stone. Again, the bathroom was perfectly clean which is always impressive for an outdoor bathroom on an island!
The pool was my favourite place to hang out at Grand Sunset Gili Air! It was spacious enough that we always had plenty of room to relax on our own, and the infinity edge overlooked the restaurant, sun loungers and the ocean.
If you prefer to tan with an unobstructed view of the ocean you can do that too. There’s plenty of bean bag chairs and sun loungers on the beach. This area of the island is really quiet, so this is the perfect place for beach naps or reading a book.
The onsite restaurant is called Scratch and they serve up some delicious food with stunning views of the ocean and Gili Meno in the background. The were a few different options for breakfast, but my favourite was “The Refreshing” that included a fresh juice, yogurt topped with fruit and granola and a fruit salad. There’s nothing better than a healthy breakfast with a view of the ocean!
For lunch and dinner they have a great mix of Indonesian and Western dishes. My favourite was the Indonesian-inspired tacos. They were so unique and perfectly prepared. Paul also loved the chicken burger he had, and the rosemary fries that came with it were delicious. Scratch is also a very romantic spot for dinner since you get those killer sunset views from your table.
