Stepping into Mantra Sakala in Nusa Dua, Bali is like stepping into another world. A very luxurious, tropical world! You stay begins with a welcome drink in the huge lobby. Their check-in counter is made of beautiful black marble, and around the other side is the lobby bar. The view across the street of the Sakala Beach Club (and the ocean in the distance) is your grand welcome to the wonderful Mantra Sakala hotel!
We stayed in a Sakala Suite that was oozing with modern sophistication. The dark interior felt very luxurious, and despite being so modern it still felt very cozy. The suite was quite large with a kitchenette that included a wine fridge! The living room included a desk, dining room table and a balcony overlooking the pool. The bedroom was completely separated from the living area and had a plush, comfy king sized bed. The 42″ TV’s and Bose stereo system were other nice touches!
The bathroom was just as modern as the rest of the suite, with black walls and expensive marble throughout. I was worried the bathroom would be to dark for applying makeup, but the natural lighting coming from the bedroom was actually great. The Sakala Suite also has a beautiful bathtub and rain shower. The bathroom came with high end SKL products that smelt like ylang-ylang and lime – so yummy smelling!
The lagoon pool stretches throughout the resort, with many ground floor rooms having direct pool access. What made this pool so much cooler than any other hotel pool is the fact that there were cabanas throughout the pool that were actually lounge beds with jacuzzi jets. So you could relax in the shade while getting massaged by jets without leaving the pool. The swim-up bar was also a nice touch – especially the friendly staff!
Directly across the street from Mantra Sakala is the Sakala Beach Club. An infinity pool overlooking the ocean, a nice stretch of beach, plenty of loungers and an amazing restaurant make up this oceanfront section of the resort. The pool at the Sakala Beach Club was much busier than the lagoon pool, but there was still plenty of room to find a place to tan. The bar in the middle of the pool was also great, and made a fantastic selection of cocktails.
There are two restaurants at the hotel. “The Restaurant” is the main restaurant, and it’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our breakfast selection here was way above average for Bali and included everything from granola to crepes to fried rice. The Sakala Bali Restaurant at the beach club is only open for lunch and dinner, but it is easily the best restaurant in the area for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our snapper for dinner, and the mango panna cotta was also amazing. Best of all, the service at both restaurants is exceptional.
