When your arrival at a luxury resort is announced by a concierge dressed in traditional Balinese clothing sounding a gong at reception, you know you’re in for a real treat. This was our welcoming at Tandjung Sari in Sanur and the stay only got better from there.
Check-in was quick and after only a few minutes our concierge was leading us through the resort to our room. Not really a room per say, but actually a two level bungalow nestled in a tropical garden. The resort was so peaceful when we arrived that we could hear the sound of crashing waves from our front porch.
Outside of the bungalow was plenty of seating area as well as a drying rack for our clothes. I love when hotels pay such close attention to the things you need – such as a place to dry your bikini after a dip in the ocean! Inside was even better, a beautiful bed surrounded by netting was the focal point of the bungalow. The furniture at Tandjung Sari is traditional and luxurious, and has a way of making you want to kick off your shoes and start calling this place home.
The unique layout meant that the bathroom was open to the bedroom, which we loved because it further showcased the incredible architecture. The tiled shower and oversized tub were so inviting, and the luxury bath products supplied were heavenly. The second level of our bungalow was a living room surround by big open windows. This was the perfect spot to read a book or do yoga in the morning. This space could also hold an extra bed if you were travelling with children.
Our bungalow was so beautiful I didn’t want to leave, but the sound of the ocean was calling my name! Just a short walk from our room was the pool, restaurant and beach club. This space is really the highlight of Tandjung Sari and where we spent most of our time. The spacious pool was never too busy and had fantastic ocean views. It’s surrounded by plenty of palm trees so you can relax in the shade when the Bali sun gets too hot.
The outdoor restaurant has plenty of seating, mostly in the shade but all with stunning views. We ate a few meals here and they were all fantastic! It’s not hard to see why people staying at other hotels frequently visit this restaurant as well. Breakfast was my favourite meal with fluffy ricotta pancakes that were to die for.
The bar was another inviting area to sit, and it was here that we enjoyed our welcome cocktails (mojitos!) with stunning beach views. All of the staff at the bar and restaurant are incredibly friendly and always had smiles on their faces.
The resort is beachfront of course, and the beach itself is beautiful. There was no shortage of luxurious sun loungers and even some oversized day beds with tables in the middle. I made use of one of these beds and used it as my office for the day. With a waiter bringing me refreshing drinks and the waves crashing in front of me it was one of my best days in Bali so far!
Tandjung Sari is certainly relaxing, but there’s enough activities here to keep the restless satisfied too! There’s a beautiful gym surrounded by gardens, bicycles to borrow and excellent snorkelling just off the beach. There’s also a boardwalk that runs along side the beach that’s perfect for a morning jog. I should also mention that Tandjug Sari is located on Sanur’s main road. So, if by some chance you did want to leave the resort you have tons of shopping, spas and restaurants all at your doorstop!
As far as services go Tandjung Sari provides everything you could possibly want. Twice daily housekeeping kept our room perfectly clean and towels always refreshed. Turndown service at night included a freshly pressed pair of complimentary sleep shirts to use during our stay. I loved the cute his & hers tags on them too! In the closet you’ll also find sarongs that are free for you to use during your stay as well – and I got a lot of use out of mine! If you can’t bear to part with your sleep shirt or sarong you can always purchase them, which is such a nice travel souvenir!
Besides the beautiful beach, stunning room and amazing staff one of the highlights of our stay was the weekend beach BBQ. On Friday and Saturday nights the beach is filled with different food stalls and you can sample traditional Balinese cuisine on the beach. Not only was the food delicious but the atmosphere was incredible – truly a memorable night!
