There’s only one hotel I’ll recommend to family and friends if they ask me about Australia’s Blue Mountains, and that’s Magical Manderley. A luxury retreat with only the best amenities, in a superb location, and competitively priced. This place is a hidden gem in Leura that’s so good you almost don’t want to share it with anyone. But that wouldn’t make me a very good travel blogger, would it?
Magical Manderley is only a 6 minute stroll from the train station, 4 minutes from the cafes and boutiques in Leura Village and less than 2 minutes from the Explorer Bus stop. It’s located next to residential houses and it’s surrounded by lush gardens, so you’ll feel completely relaxed at your private retreat while still having a convenient location.
Owner Robyn makes you feel welcomed from the minute you arrive. Out of the hundreds of hotels we’ve visited I can definitely say this is the warmest welcome we have ever received. When we entered the Treetop Apartment I immediately felt the tensions of city living drift away. Between the candles and the soft music playing it was quite the first impression. Welcome treats (including chocolates, champagne and cheese) were a great start to our mini-vacay and an excellent example of Robyn’s warm hospitality.
The Treetop Apartment was bigger than I expected, with a sizeable living room, kitchen, spa bathroom and separate bedroom. The living room was complete with a fireplace, fashion magazines and a fantastic collection of classic movies. You should be warned that once you check in you won’t want to leave! I spent my afternoon curled up on the couch with a magazine and a cup of tea before heading into Leura Village to check out the shops.
The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and it was fully stocked with breakfast items for the next morning. Cereals, eggs, bread, bacon, orange juice and homemade jams were all available… as well as an impressive collection of T2 teas! Having the ability to make breakfast on your own means you don’t have to leave your accommodation to grab your morning meal, and it also means you don’t have to rely on the opening hours of a hotel breakfast buffet.
The spa bathroom was covered in sleek black tiles that give it a cool, dark and relaxing ambiance. The spa bathtub is the perfect spot to unwind and soak your sore muscles after a long day exploring the outdoor beauty of Blue Mountains. Staying true to her luxury touches Robyn stocks the bathrooms with Molton Brown products. This is quite the hotel rarity and always really excites me to see! These high end products come from London and leave your skin feeling better than ever.
We slept like babies in the king sized bed and really loved the extra touches like candles and water bottles beside the bed. It was small things like this that made our stay so special, and really sets Magical Manderley apart from other hotels in the area!
Another great feature of Magical Manderley is the perfectly manicured gardens. We enjoyed mimosas in the garden before we went hiking and it also made for the perfect place for pictures. Overall, this is an incredible property and one I highly recommend to anyone looking for luxury accommodation in Australia’s Blue Mountains. It’s no surprise that Magical Manderley was recently awarded TripAdvisor’s 2015 Traveller’s Choice award!
