Surry Hills is one of Sydney’s most popular suburbs. It’s filled with boutique shops, award-winning restaurants and more cafes than I can count. We really wanted to explore Surry Hills and try as many restaurants as possible, so we decided to spend the weekend in a Surry Hills hotel to really get to know the area. ADGE ApartHotel fit the bill perfectly. Conveniently located at the top of Surry Hills, just a short walk from Central Station. It was in the heart of Surry Hills, but also close enough to the rest of Sydney.
After a smooth check-in we were taken to our two bedroom apartment, not a bell boy showing us the way, but a manager taking us through the apartment and showing us all the features. She made us feel right at home! After a few minutes in the room we were brought welcome drinks . Hot chocolate made with coconut oil, a pleasantly surprising combination of flavours.
Our mid-level apartment had sweeping views of downtown Sydney thanks to the wrap around balcony and huge glass doors that collapsed to make the entire living area open to the elements. The afternoon sun made this the perfect place to hang out, and by evening we had front row seats to a beautiful sunset over the city. Once the sun had disappeared behind the CBD’s tall towers the buildings’ lights twinkled against the black sky. Much later in the night there were fireworks in the harbour that we could see from the balcony. This place is heaven!
Although we loved our weekend getaway at ADGE ApartHotel, this hotel would be perfect for anyone visiting Sydney for a week or more. It has absolutely everything you could possibly need, like laundry and a full kitchen, with the added bonus of 24 hour room service! There was plenty of closet space and two bathrooms, making it ideal for a family or group of friends.
The kitchen had the world’s cutest Union Jack fridge and Miele appliances. This kitchen is better stocked than my own, and we made use of it when we made a huge Sunday morning breakfast. Breakfast at the hotel was not part of our plans. Since we were in Surry Hills (brunch capital of the world) and had originally made plans to eat at a nearby cafe…. but with the sunshine coming in we decided to eat breakfast here and go out for lunch instead.
The bedrooms were both comfortable with plush pillows and cozy duvets. The cheeky quote on the pillow case was a cute touch! Both bedrooms also had access to the wrap around balcony. Seriously, can I just move in already? The master bedroom had an ensuite bathroom and there was a second bathroom off of the living room. Both bathrooms were stocked with Appelles bath products – an Australian skincare line that I’m now obsessing over. After one shower I was in love with their shampoo, and at $35 a bottle I can see why.
Sydney is a huge city, and deciding where to stay when you come to visit can be a very daunting task. I highly recommend ADGE ApartHotel because of it’s location and amenities. Eating out in Sydney is more expensive than any other city we’ve visited (even more than Paris!) and the added bonus of having a full kitchen would be a great for your food budget.
