Hotel Review: Hotel Cort

A visit to an island as beautiful as Mallorca deserves an equally beautiful hotel. Hotel Cort is the ultimate boutique hotel in Palma de Mallorca! It’s charming, it’s intimate and above all: it’s unique. Hotel Cort is in a class of it’s own with it’s upscale island decor and friendly staff.

Like most boutique hotels, Hotel Cort has a limited number of rooms – 16 suites to be exact. We stayed in a “Junior Placa Suite” that included a large seating area, two balconies overlooking Placa Cort, and a double shower. The floors were a light hardwood and the walls were panelled. The king-sized bed was cornered by two different bedside tables and oversized lights hung above them. The focal point of the bathroom was the beautiful double shower with its floor-to-ceiling tiles in island blue.

Hotel Cort certainly didn’t fall short of luxe touches either! The bathroom came stocked with full-sized Molton Brown products, a wonderful change from the miniature trial-sized bottles you usually see. The bed linens we’re clearly high quality, and the oversized pillows made it feel like I was sleeping on a cloud.

From the art on the wall to the terracotta side chair… I wanted to take everything home with me and re-decorate our apartment in Barcelona! Rest assured I left everything in place, but not without taking plenty of pictures for future design inspiration. Bookcases in the room were filled with pictures books about the island of Mallorca and luxury hotels. I could have spent an entire weekend in that room, curled up on the couch, flipping through those books.

Hotel Cort

During the evening we tried out the hotel’s restaurant, and sat on their terrace in the middle of Placa Corts. This is a busy square in Palma, making it an ideal place to people watch. I opted for a refreshing glass of “vino blanco”, while Paul ordered a Mojito. For food we snacked on ham croquettes and tomato bread. Our order arrived promptly (with a smile!) and we both felt more than satisfied with the quality vs. price.

Food

Wine

We visited the restaurant again in the morning for breakfast which was even better than our evening snacks. The breads we had were delicious, the fruit was fresh and our scrambled eggs were filled with cheese and ham. The highlight of breakfast had to be the cappuccinos and freshly squeezed orange juice though – the perfect way to start your day! This restaurant should be on your “must-visit” list whether you stay at the hotel or not. No matter what time of day, the restaurant always seemed lively!

Breakfast

The hotel also has a terrace with a small pool and sun loungers. This is the perfect place to get some sun and cool off in the water when you don’t want to go all the way to the beach. From the rooftop you can see the private terraces some suites come with. If you’re coming to Mallorca for a romantic getaway I’d strongly suggest booking one of these rooms!

The thing that sets Hotel Cort apart from any other hotel I’ve stayed in is the beautiful touches you’ll find around every corner. Ornate blue tiles on the staircases, quirky quotes on all of their stationary and bright wallpaper in the hallways. This is a trendy new hotel, making it the place to see and be seen in Palma. Hotel Cort instantly became one of my favourite hotels!
