Yesterday was HANDS DOWN the best experience I’ve had in Barcelona! I’ve always wanted to try a fish pedicure so I jumped at the chance when I discovered AquaBliss Fish Spa here in Barcelona.
AquaBliss is a beautiful spa, nestled between La Rambla and Via Laietana. If you’re staying anywhere in El Born or Passaig de Gracia this spa won’t be more than a ten minute walk for you.
When we entered we were greeted by friendly staff, and amazed at how pretty the interior looked with all of the tanks lined up. It’s a very relaxing environment and the design is beautiful.
I opted for the full-out “Extravagance Treatment”, which I highly recommend. It started with a quick foot washing where one of the wonderful ladies washed my feet and lower legs, while another stored my shoes and belonging for me in a nearby basket.
I was given a pair of disposable flip flops and taken to my seat. I was incredibly nervous at this point – but equally excited! Would it tickle? Would it hurt? Would I be able to stand it? The staff member gently guided me into slowly lowering my feet into the tank. Instantly the fish swam to my feet!
At first it really tickled and I was laughing out loud quite a bit. After a minute or two I got used to it and it didn’t bother me at all. If I didn’t look at it, then it actually just felt like my feet were sitting in a pool of champagne. The fish nibbles felt like bubbles in the water. The Extravagant Treatment includes 30 minutes of “fish time”. I found this very relaxing, plus it gave the fish plenty of time to do their work!
I was treated to a glass of cava during my 30 minute fish pedicure, which was both refreshing and luxurious. It certainly added to the experience to be able to sit back, enjoy the spa and sip on some bubbly.
During my fish pedicure I had a chance to chat with the wonderful owner, David. He told me all about their complex filtration system and about the fish as well. The fish come from Turkey and can grow to be over 2 inches in length. David is also an expert in Barcelona restaurants… So if you’re looking for a great place for lunch after your spa visit ask him for a recommendation!
Once my 30 minutes with the fish were up I was taken to a comfortable leather club chair for my foot massage. After days of non-stop walking, and sightseeing around Barcelona, this felt so amazing. I was so relaxed at this point I felt like I was floating on a cloud. I looked over at Paul as he was receiving his foot rub and he had his eyes closed and a smile on his face. “Yes, I will be back weekly” is all I could think.
Not only was this a cool and ultra relaxing experience… But once I had a chance to check out my feet I realized it was also the best pedicure of my life. I can’t even describe how soft my feet are now. I think this is how babies feet feel! Those fish did an incredible job, they even got my cuticles.
The biggest change in our barcrlona lifestyle has been the amount of waking we do. Everything is conveniently located so I find we never take the metro and we’re walking almost 3 hours a day. Although healthy, this is definitely taken a toll on my feet… But now I’ve found the perfect solution. I can’t wait to come back to AquaBliss, where I think Paul and I will be quite the regulars over then next two months.

The team at Kelly Ella Maz were welcomed to AquaBliss as guests, however our opinions remain our own. After visiting this spa as guests, we loved it so much that we became regular (paying) customers!
