Hotel Review: Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana

Dreams Palm Beach is the ideal resort for travellers looking for a 5-star resort at an affordable price. This is certainly not the “grandest” resort in Punta Cana, but I think you get great value for the price. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted with a cold hand towel and a drink… awesome service! Every staff member I encountered at Dreams Palm Beach was courteous and they all seemed genuinely happy to be there. Another perk I quickly noticed was that no wristbands are required here! Nothing ruins vacation pictures more than a bright blue plastic bracelet with your fancy dinner clothes….
For a resort of this size (500 rooms) you get an impressive number of restaurants – 8 in total. For breakfast and lunch you have a buffet, snack bar and cafe. For dinner you have the buffet and 5 a la cartes to choose from. Guests get unlimited al la carte dinners, and no reservations are required. The “Himitsu” asian restaurant is the most popular for dinner by far, followed by the “Portofino” Italian restaurant. When I was here, the cafe was also packed with people ordering pastries and coffees!
There’s three pools at this resort, one of them being for preferred club guests only. This pool was quieter than the main pools and was located right beside the preferred club lounge. Not far from the pools lies the long beach. White sand and blue ocean makes this the most inviting part of the resort. Even though it was a perfectly hot day the beach didn’t look crowded – which is a huge plus for me!
The preferred club here is quite similar to other resorts I’ve stayed at. Perks include a private lounge, pool, concierge, afternoon hors d’oeuvres and internet access. Depending on how busy the resort is, you may find the preferred club upgrade to be a great choice for you. I love that it offers you an adults-only setting at an otherwise family resort.
They’ve recently renovated the spa here – making it the perfect place to unwind after a hard day at the beach. The mosaic tile wall is bright and cheerful, while the treatment rooms are more calming. Outside, there’s three “dip” pools…. a cold, a hot and a warm. Also in the same building is a gym with brand new equipment.
Dreams Palm Beach is known for being a great resort for weddings, and I can see why. The grounds are perfectly manicured providing a great back drop. They are complete wedding experts here, with a beautiful wedding office to meet with coordinators, and a special bridal room in the spa. They do up to three weddings per day here, with locations at the beach, pool and garden.
Wether you’re travelling as a couple, a family or a wedding party this resort could be a great option for you. Current room renovations will be complete December 15th 2013, so if you’re travelling before then you may be able to get a slightly lower price. Visitors visiting after December 15th should request one of these recently renovated rooms to further add to your experience here!
